Give Back This Thanksgiving At These Hudson County Organizations

The community is coming together to show up for one another, just days before Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 28.

If you’re in need of a free meal, looking to donate or volunteer, here’s some places you can head over to in Hudson County.

Leaves Of Love with the Coalition For Food And Health Equity

The Coalition for Food and Health Equity (CFHE) has teamed up with community partners, including Angela CARES, for their annual Leaves of Love care package distribution events for November. Leaves of Leave is a care package distribution event; they include essential items and food. ⁠

They have two more events this month, which fall on Monday, Nov. 25 and Tuesday, Nov. 26

Monday’s distribution will take place at the NJCRI, located at 393 Central Avenue in Newark. On Tuesday, they return to Hudson County and will be stationed at The Table on 400 Claremont Avenue in Jersey City.

North Bergen Cares Thanksgiving Giveaway

Mayor Nicholas Sacco and NB C.A.R.E.S are hosting their annual Thanksgiving giveaway on Monday, Nov. 25 at the North Bergen Recreation Center, 6300 Meadow Avenue, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The giveaway includes one free turkey per household and more. You must show a proof of residency upon pickup and register by calling 201-392-2000 or emailing afocarraccio@northbergen.org. Pre-registration is not required for a turkey only if you’re a homebound senior citizen in need of a meal.

Turkey Drive At Team Walker Learning Center

Team Walker is still accepting donations of canned and non-perishable foods and monetary donations, which will be used towards the purchase of turkeys to give away.

Thanksgiving Box Distribution at Riverside Church

The Riverside Church at 317 3rd Street in Jersey City is giving out free bags filled with turkey and essentials for a Thanksgiving dinner. Bags will be given on a first come, first served basis.

Town Of West New York Food Drive 

Mayor Albio Sires and the Board of Commissioners are working to make sure West New York residents have access to food. 

With the help of the Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services, the town is hosting another food drive on Tuesday Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Miller Stadium Jackson Street between 59th and 57th Streets. 

Supplies will be available on a first come, first served basis. 

Town of Kearny Food Distribution 

Hudson County residents are welcome to stop by the town of Kearny’s food distribution which is a collaboration with the Community Food Bank, Hudson County Department of Health and Human Services. 

The distribution will occur on Tuesday Nov. 26 at 1 p.m. until supplies last at 50 Belgrove Drive. Residents must show proof of Hudson County residence and bring their own bags.
