Secaucus Ramp Closure Expected To Cause Delays
The ramp from Paterson Plank Road eastbound to Route 3 and westbound in Secaucus will be closed for the next three weeks.
A drainage improvement project is the reason for the closure. NJDOT said crews will replace a deteriorated 48-inch corrugated metal drainage pipe with a reinforced concrete pipe.

Drivers heading east on Paterson Plank Road who would like to access Route 3 westbound will be directed to:
- Continue on Paterson Plank Road eastbound
- Turn right onto the ramp for Route 1&9 southbound
- Turn right onto the ramp for Route 3 westbound
NJDOT stated that the work is meant to maintain the state’s transportation infrastructure and extend the service life of its roads and bridges. The schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors.
The construction is part of an $11.1 million stormwater facilities restoration contract covering Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
North Bergen High School Student Stopped By ICE
Hudson County spoke strongly against ICE and mobilized quickly after a high school senior from North Bergen was stopped and questioned by masked ICE agents while he was on his way to school last Monday morning.
George Castillo, 18, was waiting for a friend at JFK Boulevard and 85th Street at around 7:30 a.m. Monday and said he was confused when he was asked if he was American.

Gloria Estrada, who recorded video of the encounter, said she was concerned by what she witnessed.
“I see that they are speaking to my neighbor, who is a high school student, and that didn’t seem right to me,” she said.
“I just thought it’s not right what they’re doing because I was just a high school student who was probably waiting for their friend or just wanting to sit down really quickly, and they stereotyped him for looking Hispanic.”
Assemblymember Gabriel Rodriguez criticized the incident and said New Jersey law requires law enforcement officers, including federal officers, to reveal their facial identities while performing official duties.
“They want people to feel fear,” Rodriguez stated.
According to ABC 7, ICE said agents were conducting a targeted operation Monday during which they arrested nine undocumented immigrants with criminal histories and that, during the operation, they spoke with an adult, not a child.
The incident has sparked outrage in North Bergen as questions continue to circulate about the encounter and the actions of ICE agents. To stay informed about ICE, you can follow this account for more information and updates regarding their whereabouts.
