As fall continues to make its way back to Hudson County, here’s some sports news and opportunities you need to catch up on.
Saint Peter’s Prep Football Team Soars Past Paramus Catholic In Season Opener
Fall is around the corner and that means football season is officially back!
Hudson County is buzzing after No. 6 ranked Saint Peter’s Prep opened up their season with a 42-26 win at home over No. 10 Paramus Catholic. This puts the Marauders at 1-0 to start the season.

Senior running back Tyler Barksdale and junior running back Abdul Turay each had three rushing touchdowns in the win over the Paladins.
Senior quarterback Tyler Bell recorded 65 total passing yards.
The Marauders are back in action Saturday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson against Union City.

Attention All Soccer Fans! Want To Be A Part Of The FIFA World Cup™?
The biggest sporting event in the world is just under a year away and you can be a part of it! The 2026 FIFA World Cup™ is looking for volunteers.
If you’re interested, here’s details, dates and more that you should be aware of.
Host Countries: Canada, USA, Mexico
Cities: 16 host cities (including East Rutherford, New Jersey!)
Event Dates: June 11 to July 19, 2026
Shifts: Minimum 8 shifts (6-8 hrs each)
Funding: Unpaid (travel, visa and stay at your expense)
Eligibility: 18+, English (plus Spanish/ French for bonus), valid entry to host country

Volunteering Timeline:
Apply: August to September 2025
Tryouts: October to December 2025
Offers: December 2025 to March 2026
Training: March to June 2026
Volunteering: June to July 2026

Play Youth Soccer In Harrison And East Newark This Fall!
The Harrison Recreation Boys and Girls Soccer League is officially open for registration from now until Sept. 21.
The league is open for the following age groups for Harrison and East Newark residents only:
Youth Division: 1st, 2nd, 3rd graders
Older Division: 4th, 5th, 6th graders
The season begins on Sept. 29. Each team will play two games per week throughout six weeks. All games will be held at the soccer fields on Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard.
