Hudson County became a prominent voice in the presidential primary on June 4, sending a message to the United States.
“So I just took small steps and came out to only a few of my closest friends…And then they opened up back up to me and that’s when I realized that we can only shine when we open up to those who are ready to hold that shine and reflect it back to us.”
“For the past year, and the other years I’ve been training, it’s been brutal. Suffering through the cuts, suffering through the training..suffering through so many things so the fact that I’m going to have that belt with me is going to mean a lot to me. So I don’t want anyone to take it.”
“Right away there was a community [in West New York] that welcomed us and nurtured us through the change,” Katie Perez said.
“With Zumba and ballroom I felt like my confidence went super high and ever since then I just feel unstoppable and I don’t care what people have to say about me. I know who I am and that is what I want to provide to everybody,” the West New York resident said.
