The Voter Registration Deadline For The West New York School Board Election In Coming Up
The 2026 West New York School Board Election voter registration deadline is this Tuesday, March 31. You can vote from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The election will take place April 21 along with other school board elections in North Bergen and Weehawken. You can see all the candidates and their campaigns here.
Noticed Clearer Light Rail Lots? NJ Transit Is Offering Limited Parking Spots
Starting next month, NJ Transit will have limited overnight paid parking at two Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) lots, on a daily or monthly basis.
This decision was made after evaluating commuter usage at the West Side Avenue and Liberty State Park parking lots over the past several months, which concluded that a portion of the lots could be made for paid daily or monthly overnight parking.
There will still be “enough access” to parking for commuters using the light rail daily.
According to a post by Jersey City Council President Denise Ridley, “Daily and overnight parking tags must be purchased via the ticket vending machines at the West Side Avenue and Liberty State Park parking locations by selecting the Parking option. Daily overnight parking is valid for 24 hours from the date/time of purchase. Monthly overnight parking permits must be renewed prior to the start of every calendar month.”
The overnight parking rates are as follows:
- 24-hour daily rate: $30
- Monthly overnight permit: $345
Permits are on a first-come, first-served basis.

This Food Bank Is Showing Support For TSA Workers
The BITE food bank will be hosting priority service for TSA workers every Saturday at the BITE Food and Resource Distribution located at 2163 John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Doors open at 11 a.m.
Every Saturday, there will be no lines for TSA workers and they will be personally welcomed and served first.
You will receive the following:
- Fresh meats
- Fruits and vegetables
- Breads and pastries
- Coffee and snacks
- Toys and bikes for children
- Essential household resources

Looking For A Summer Job In Bayonne?
Bayonne’s Division of Recreation summer job applications are now available until April 10.
Available jobs include working as:
- Camp counselor at the various recreation summer day camps
- Pool attendant or lifeguard at the Thomas DiDomenico Municipal Pool at 16th Street Park
Lifeguards must be certified when applying.
Applicants are open to college students and those who are in at least their freshman year of high school to apply. Applications are available to be picked up from Monday through Friday in City Hall Room #13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All positions require full attendance and must be Bayonne residents. Working Papers will not be accepted with the application.

Salumeria Ercolano To Re-Open Next Week In Old Miss America Diner
Staple deli and eatery, Salumeria Ercolano, is nearing its grand re-opening in Jersey City at 322 West Side Avenue at the corner of Culver Avenue, replacing what was once the iconic Miss America Diner.
In a Facebook post in a public group “WE GREW UP IN JERSEY CITY,” there were mixed feelings.
“Very excited for this grand opening!” said one user.
“Damn i can only imagine the prices of the food. Most likely they will cater to the people that are paying 3 to 4 thousand a month on rent. People with the money. Not to the Jersey cityans that been here forever like me,” wrote another.

Community Mourns Man Fatally Shot In Union City
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Union City Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that happened onMarch 23.
Sometime after 1:50 a.m., the Union City Police Department was notified of shots being fired near Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street.
There, responding officers found a male victim, who was later identified as North Bergen resident David Pulgarin, 42, with a gunshot wound; it’s unclear how many.
Pulgarin was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, but was pronounced dead just after 2:30 a.m. The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
It’s currently investigated by the Homicide Unit and the Union City Police Department.
No arrests have been made yet. The community hosted a vigil in memory of Pulgarin.
