Harrison’s Latest Property Deal Sparks Concerns For Locals
The town of Harrison recently passed an ordinance that permits the purchase of a residential property located at 422-424 William Street.
The ordinance was passed without any explanation or discussion during the most recent public meeting of the Mayor and Council. The lack of reasoning created speculation with residents regarding the intended use of the property, according to Your Harrison.

The three-story property includes a garage with living space and is near Lincoln Elementary School. The location reportedly created speculation that the town may be purchasing the property for future expansion of the school or even a spot for affordable housing units.
The purchase price for the two-family property is $1,050,000. Harrison is reportedly allocating $1,250,000 to cover both the purchase and any improvements to the site.
No public statements have been made yet by Harrison Mayor James Fife or council members.
There is a Special Mayor & Council meeting this Tuesday, July 22, at the Harrison Town Hall, located at 318 Harrison Avenue in Harrison. It is open to the public and anyone in attendance can ask any questions or make a statement about the property situation.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez To Retire
Her name has been associated with the prosecutor’s office press releases and local news reporter for over 20 years, and this coming August, she’ll be retiring.
Last week, Suarez announced that she will be stepping down from her county role on Aug. 1 after 25 years.

“Serving as Hudson County prosecutor, the very community where I was born and raised, has been an incredible honor,” she said. “My goal, since day one, was to build an office that can better address the needs of the residents of Hudson County, while also providing law enforcement with the tools necessary to protect and serve.”
Suarez, who’s from Bayonne and now lives in Secaucus, spent her career in public service. She was previously a Superior Court judge.
The prosecutor’s office did not announce who would succeed Suarez in August.
