The city plans a Loew’s Alley closure for up to two years while renovating the historic building. Residents are concerned it will cause increased commute times.
“In the suburbs, they coined the term, soccer-moms. A soccer-mom is a mom with a mini-van that picks up all the kids and takes them to practice. We don’t have that in Jersey City,” retired police captain and coach Frank Williams told Slice of Culture.
“We live in an urban community [where] public transportation is needed. I can’t imagine residents only using Ubers, and light rails. It doesn’t work for everyone. Buses are more convenient as there are stops available on almost every street and corner.
