Good News North Bergen! Traffic Conditions Set To Improve At This Intersection
The Township of North Bergen has announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will fix the traffic signal timing at the intersection of Tonnelle Avenue (Routes 1&9) and 91st Street.
This improvement comes after a formal action by North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco and the Board of Commissioners and coordination with state officials.
“Public safety and quality of life are always our top priorities,” Mayor Sacco said. “This intersection had become a serious problem for residents and for our first responders. I am pleased that NJDOT has listened to our concerns and is taking steps to correct the signal timing so traffic can move safely and efficiently again.”
At a Board of Commissioners Meeting, Mayor Sacco and the Board announced a resolution asking that NJDOT reassess traffic conditions at the intersection. Vehicles were experiencing delays of more than 45 minutes to drive just a few city blocks. This prevented residents from leaving or returning to their homes.
North Bergen will continue to monitor conditions at the intersection and will keep residents informed.

This Bayonne Park Unveiled A New Addition
Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners Anthony L. Romano and Commissioner Jerry Walker—who was recently elected to New Jersey Assembly—celebrated the unveiling of a brand-new pavilion at Mercer Park in Bayonne.

According to a press release, this new project will create an outdoor community space along with room for concession stands and new bathrooms, aiming to utilize the park to host events and make it “more welcoming.”
Mercer Park is located in Bayonne along the border of Jersey City. The park has six-and-a-half acres of walkways with two basketball courts, a lit field for youth baseball and football and a children’s playground.
“This pavilion is more than a structure; it’s a gathering place where families and neighbors can come together, celebrate, and create lasting memories. It reflects the shared commitment of my administration and the Board of County Commissioners to invest in our communities while expanding opportunities for minority-owned businesses,” said Hudson County Executive Craig Guy said in a statement.
