From a “violent” argument in Marshalls to residents unhappy with bike lanes, we’ve got you covered with Hudson County’s news.
North Hudson Bike Lanes Getting Improved, Much To Dismay Of Residents
Hudson County is investing in bike lanes throughout West New York, Guttenberg and North Bergen.
The bike lane will be on River Road located in the three towns as part of a $2,962,647.94 million deal.
But many Hudson County residents are unhappy with the bike lane construction. Residents noted that the bike lane is inconsiderate for those who live on River Road and is actually dangerous for both commuters and cyclists.

“Pls listen and do not continue gaslighting people who actually live in the area and up and down River Road…It’s easy for folks who want to leisurely bike up the road maybe once or twice a month to say great idea – not for those of us who live here and need to take this road almost every day for anything we want to accomplish…There is simply no space to maintain two lanes for cars in both directions plus the crucial center lane that is needed for safe turns and ambulances etc to get through. You are forcing cars and buses to stop in flowing traffic – it just a question of how bad not when the first accidents will happen,” one user commented on Instagram.
“…This bike lane to nowhere is one of the worst projects I’ve ever seen. It will not be safer for cyclists, pedestrians, or commuters,” another user commented.

Argument At Kearny Marshalls Leads To Stabbing
A heated argument, reportedly over the speed of a checkout line at Marshalls on Passaic Avenue in Kearny, led to a “violent” stabbing last Saturday afternoon, according to Jersey Talks.
According to the Kearny Police Department, one woman was hospitalized with multiple stab wounds.
Police were called to the scene after reports of a stabbing in the parking lot. When officers arrived, they found a woman covered in blood who had suffered from several puncture wounds to her torso.
The woman was rushed to the hospital, where doctors noted that her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
According to the post, police noted that the argument started inside the store after Amber I. Thompson, 25, a Newark resident, became upset about how slowly the checkout line was moving. Witnesses told officers that Thompson had threatened another shopper, telling her she would “see her outside.”
Investigators claim that Thompson unboxed one of the kitchen knives she had bought, and followed the victim and her family into the parking lot. As the victim approached her car, Thompson allegedly attacked her, stabbing her several times before fleeing back into the Marshalls.
Police later found Thompson hiding in a bathroom; the same bathroom is where a kitchen knife was found from a baby-changing station. Witness accounts linked Thompson directly to the assault, and she was taken into custody on the scene.
Thompson is now facing charges of: aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and endangering another person. She was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, and the weapon was taken as evidence by the police.
The incident remains under investigation by Kearny detectives.
