Here’s Your Update On The Hoboken Boil Water Advisory
Last week, Hoboken was the subject of a “boil water” advisory due to a major water main break. Then, this past Monday, a localized boil water advisory was issued for western parts of Hoboken. That Monday boil water advisory was lifted on Wednesday.
“As a precaution, customers near the main break site (between 6th & 10th Sts, from Adams to Marshall) were advised to boil tap water before use. We are pleased to report that the repairs have been completed and subsequent water quality testing shows the water quality meets all regulatory standards,” Veolia Water—which was formerly SUEZ Water—said in a statement.
To ensure safety measures, the water company recommends:
- Running water faucets for three to five minutes
- Emptying and cleaning automatic ice makers and water chillers
- Draining and refilling your hot water heater if the temperature is set below 113 degrees.
On Friday morning, Veolia Water stated that they are “aware of the minor leaks on Newark and Garden [Streets].” They will be coordinating valve replacement with the City of Hoboken and Office of Emergency Management within the coming days.
According to a report posed on local.nixle.com, much of Hoboken’s water infrastructure is “over 100 years old,” making it fragile and prone to breaking. Hoboken has already replaced nearly five miles of water mains, and is projected to replace another 29,000 linear feet by the end of 2025.

Say Hello To This New Irish-Mexican Restaurant In Jersey City
The Hudson Hound has been replaced.
San Patricios officially opened its doors in Jersey City on Friday. Located at 8 Erie Place, it boasts a blend of Ireland and Mexico, reportedly inspired by the Irish and Mexican connection during the Mexican-American War in the mid-1800s.
The pub and cantina also gets its name from the San Patricio Battalion, a group of mostly Irish soldiers who fought alongside Mexico during the war.
“Our team has done a stellar job of weaving together these two heritages, to both celebrate their overlap and their distinctive elements–we’re proud to open our doors and share it with the community,” Director of Operations Laura Torres told Jersey Digs.

The food will display a combination of bocadillos, tacos, corned beef tacos, ham and cheese torta with Irish cheddar, smoked ham, queso fresco, tomato, lettuce, onion and pickled jalapeños.

The affordablehousingjc.com lists the property as Jersey City resident-preferred and ADA accessible. At the time of this writing, it also lists the following apartments are available:
- Four one-bedrooms

The building was in the works back in 2021 and proposed plans of 71 total units, with just six of those set aside for affordable housing with “moderate incomes,” Jersey Digs previously reported.

Bayonne Family Declines Settlement After Two Sons Drown In School Pool
The family of two Bayonne brothers who drowned in the Lincoln Community School pool on June 9, 2022 are not accepting a settlement offer from the Board of Education, their attorney told Hudson County View.
The BOE offered a $14 million settlement, which when broken down, is an offer of $7 million for brothers Jack Jiang and Chu Ming Zheng.
“My clients will absolutely not accept these offers as they do not represent fair or full compensation for the inestimable, horrific and totally preventable damages caused by the gross negligence and recklessness of the BBOE and the management of the Lincoln School Pool that resulted in both boys drowning and the destruction of an entire family,” said Daryl Zaslow, the attorney for the brothers.
“As per this issue, the conduct of the Defendants went well beyond mere negligence, as they acted with a reckless disregard for the lives of Chu Ming and Jack, and for the safety of all the patrons of the Lincoln School Pool, and then several Defendants patently lied to the police and detective who were conducting their investigation how these boys both drowned. As such, Plaintiffs will almost certainly be entitled to an award of punitive damages.”

The two former Bayonne High School students’ estate filed a $100 million tort claim—or monetary compensation—back in June 2022, which was two weeks after the fatal drownings happened.
Bayonne school officials have not provided a statement on the decline, but according to Hudson County View, the district usually does not comment on uncertain litigation.
