2021 has already started off rocky, and honestly, it might get rockier.

But we are hopeful.

We are hopeful that there will be progression, happiness, love, health and knowledge. There will be better days for you, our neighbors, family and friends, this country and our planet. I believe we are entering this year stronger than we left the last one and it’s now up to us to take the reins.

When I think of my wishes for 2021, one of the first things that come to mind is for us to feel some sort of normality as the vaccine comes out.

I know by no means will things get better fast, but I do hope this year takes fewer lives and less of a toll on all of our mental health. I’m happy about Trump leaving office soon, but I know that only solves one part of our problems. I hope that Biden will be pushed towards more progressive reform that can be seen in the left-wing of the democratic party.

Personally, this year I’ll be starting college and I hope that the transition from high school is smooth and that I can keep my grades up while working. With all that said, I pray for good health for all my loved ones. This year, I know my friends and I will all be working towards our dreams.

In 2021, I hope to continue working on becoming a better version of myself. A better friend, sister, daughter, artist, and overall individual. I hope to do so by focusing on my mental/physical health and creating healthy routines. 2020 has exposed me to the importance of appreciating your loved ones while they’re still here.

In 2021 I will be making as many memories as possible with those important in my life. Although I know not to expect anything from this new year, I know it’ll end up being one to remember.

2020 was a whirlwind of a year for everyone, and I can definitely concur with that statement considering my year was just as unprecedented as anyone else’s. I caught Covid, and so did many people I know. I watched as each historical world event occurred in front of my eyes, wishing for something positive to come around, but I somehow managed.

Looking back, all I want for 2021 is to continue to prosper and make it through the rough times. I know everything won’t go back to normal just because it’s a new year, but I want this year to bring happiness and progression to not only myself but all of my close friends and family. We made it through 2020, and I’m always excited for what a new year will bring — so 2021, bring it on!

While thinking about the new year and all the hardships we have faced, I wish health upon my family in 2021. I would like to travel more. I want to go back to school to further my education but that’ll take some time to think about.

One of the main things I’ve been taking into consideration is my health and I wish to be more physically active like I was last year. As far as sleeping and eating better and being more active per day.

What really took a toll on me in 2020 was not seeing my family and friends; my final college semester abruptly ended and my weekly random trips with my cousins had to stop.

In 2021, I hope to hug and laugh with my loved ones again, without worry that I’m putting myself or others in danger. But overall, I hope all of society heals from 2020. I’m tired of my heart hurting because of the news on the TV. In 2021, we’re going to move forward from all the pain… I’m claiming it… hopefully.
