I ran outside where my other neighbor, who was also moving her car, was already on the phone trying to get through. My trembling hands and the frigid cold made it difficult to dial 9-1-1; the small fire from the side of the house was intimidating.
It’s been two years since the streets of Hudson County have seen 1-2 inches of snow flurries. But this week, Mother Nature graced us with back-to-back storms. As exciting as it was to see snow fall again, temperatures dropped to freezing amount activating a Code Blue alert throughout the state.

Hudson County small businesses weather through hardships for generations even when faced with a changing economy and pandemic. They are the backbone of communities.
“[Jersey City] how can you help this to stop from happening? What can we all do? This is a tremendous loss to the community and needs to be taken seriously,”Athanasiou-Vaartstra wrote.
“Charity is wonderful but why isn’t the city doing it? You got hungry kids, feed them. The disparity [of food insecurity] is startling,” said Litman.
Spanning 100 acres along the Jersey City’s Hackensack River is the city’s vision for an affordable housing inclusive neighborhood called “The Bayfront Redevelopment Plan.”
“In the suburbs, they coined the term, soccer-moms. A soccer-mom is a mom with a mini-van that picks up all the kids and takes them to practice. We don’t have that in Jersey City,” retired police captain and coach Frank Williams told Slice of Culture.
