Bayonne Residents Saddened By Loss Of ‘Our Beloved Turkey’
In Facebook group “Bayonne Talks,” user Kevin Scott Koepke posted that the town’s “beloved turkey passed away in the middle of Kennedy Boulevard.”

Over 200 Facebook group members reacted to the post with sad and heartfelt emojis. Users posted videos and photos of “Tom the Uptown Turkey” who frequently roamed around Stephen R. Gregg Park, also known as Bayonne Park, which runs between West 37th and 48th Streets.
“The city needs to put a bronze statue of Tom in the park since he has now become a part of Bayonne’s folklore,” wrote one user.
It’s unclear what caused the turkey to be found in the middle of the street. Koepke, who made the original post, put on gloves and moved the turkey to be by the fountain in the park.
In another post in the Facebook group, locals confirmed that there are other turkeys who roam uptown and they urged the community to be respectful to the animals.
