The New York Giants and Jets are both among the worst teams in the NFL. And this is no surprise, as both teams have been mediocre for quite some time.

The New York Giants currently have a record of 3-7. Their playoff hopes are still in reach, but it is unlikely that they make it.

They have not reached the playoffs since 2016, and are undergoing a rebuild. Former starting quarterback Eli Manning, one of the greatest players in their franchise history, retired last season. Manning was a two-time Super Bowl champion, leading the Giants in both of their most recent wins.

The last time the Giants won titles were back in 2008 and 2012. But looking at the team now, it may seem that their next title won’t be coming soon.

Hamza Rashid, 18, has been a Giants fan since their win in 2012. Being a fan since then has been a rollercoaster of emotions for him.

“It’s sad seeing how the team isn’t performing the way they used to,” he said.

A huge fan of Eli Manning and ultimately his all-time favorite player, Rashid was sad to see him retire. His fondest memories of the Giants included Manning.

This season has been a disappointment. Rashid sometimes feels as though the Giants are not trying to win. However, he believes their current two-win streak can extend and that they can build off the momentum.

The Giants are currently being led by their starting Quarterback, Daniel Jones. Jones is Manning’s replacement, so the young Quarterback falls under constant scrutiny by fans. Pro Bowl Running Back Saquon Barkley is arguably the best player on the team. However, Barkley is currently out for the season due to a torn ACL.

According to Rashid, Giants players let the pressure get to them, which leads to careless mistakes and losses. This isn’t surprising, considering that the Giants are a young team.

Despite their lackluster start of the season, Rashid thinks that the Giants have a solid shot to make the Super Bowl. It has been a while since he has seen his team make the Super Bowl, and he hopes this season changes that.

Meanwhile, the New York Jets haven’t been nearly as fortunate as the Giants. Currently holding a 0-9 record, they have no choice but to continue the rebuild.

In the past three seasons, their first-round picks have included: Sam Darnold, Quinnen Williams, and Mekhi Becton.

They haven’t made a Super Bowl appearance since 1969, where they won their only NFL championship. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2011.

Tristan Benitez, 21, has been a Jets fan his whole life.

A fan of cornerback Darrelle Revis, Benitez loved watching him play. Revis was one of the reasons why he became a Jets fan. Revis finished his career with one Super Bowl win, seven Pro Bowl appearances, and four first-team All-Pro appearances.

When asked about the Jets’ decade-long misfortunes, he said:

“It’s been rough. It seems like we can’t do anything right even though we have good players.”

Benitez hopes that the Jets replaces their coaching staff and medical team, along with completely rebuilding again. He would also like them to acquire offensive talent and clear cap space. The Jets project to have fifty million in cap space in the next offseason.

Despite having a recent top pick in Darnold, the Jets starting quarterback, Benitez thinks it’s time to move on from him.

Darnold has been with the Jets for three seasons and has not made a positive impact. He currently has 39 touchdowns compared to 31 interceptions, which is a poor statistic. He also has a 78.3 passer rating, which is below average.

Having the worst record in the league, the Jets are primed to pick first in the upcoming draft.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence from Clemson has emerged as a consensus top pick, and it is likely that the Jets select him and trade Darnold. Benitez believes that Lawrence can be a once in a generation talent and that the Jets need to acquire him. Lawrence has posted seventeen touchdowns with only two interceptions across six games this season.

Benitez thinks that the Jets can turn things around in the next few seasons and that they can be ready to contend within three or four years.

New York Giants and Jets fans have had it rough for the past few years, but the fans are not dismayed. Both Rashid and Benitez believe that their teams will overcome their struggles and win a title soon.

Every team goes through high and low points, and these fans said that their teams will come back on top.

The Jets will face off against the 2-7 Chargers on Nov. 22 at 4:05 p.m. The Giants will be facing the 2-6-1 Bengals on Nov. 29 at 1:00 p.m.
